Complex fluids are a broad class of materials including shaving cream, yogurt, shampoo, toothpaste, blood, mucus and the cytoskeleton controlling the mechanics of cells, to name but a few examples. Unlike simple fluids, complex fluids often exhibit unusual mechanical and rheological behaviors stemming from the non-trivial interaction between their internal microstructure and the applied stress. To shed light on the highly complex physics involved, the building of reliable mathematical and computational models, guiding subsequent lab based work, is a necessary requirement.
The scope of the following series of seminars, part of the initiative “IAComplexFluids”, is to bring together a selected group of researchers to discuss recent advances, current challange and future perspectives in the field of theory and simulations of complex fluids and soft matter.
The seminars will be held at Via dei Taurini 19, Rome. Starting time at 11.30 am.
