Mass diffusion in multi-layer systems: an electrical analogue modelling approach

We develop a lumped parameter model to describe and predict the mass release of (absorption from) an arbitrary shaped body of any dimension in a large environment. Through the one-to-one analogy between diffusion-dominated mass transfer systems and electrical circuits we provide exact solutions in terms of averaged concentrations and mass released. An estimate of the equivalent resistance and of the release time is also given, and shown to be inversely proportional to the diffusivity.

Mathematical modelling of drug delivery from pH-responsive nanocontainers

Targeted drug delivery systems represent a promising strategy to treat localised disease with minimum impact on the surrounding tissue. In particular, polymeric nanocontainers have attracted major interest because of their structural and morphological advantages and the variety of polymers that can be used, allowing the synthesis of materials capable of responding to the biochemical alterations of the environment.

Network-based methods for psychometric data of eating disorders: A systematic review

BACKGROUND: Network science represents a powerful and increasingly promising method for studying complex real-world problems. In the last decade, it has been applied to psychometric data in the attempt to explain psychopathologies as complex systems of causally interconnected symptoms. One category of mental disorders, relevant for their severity, incidence and multifaceted structure, is that of eating disorders (EDs), serious disturbances that negatively affect a person's eating behavior.

A Fast DVM Algorithm for Wideband Time-Delay Multi-Beam Beamformers

This paper presents a sparse factorization for the delay Vandermonde matrix (DVM) and a faster, exact, radix-2, and completely recursive DVM algorithm to realize millimeter wave beamformers in wireless communication networks. The proposed algorithm will reduce the complexity of $N$-beam wideband beamformers from $\mathcal{O}(N^2)$ to $\mathcal{O}(N {\rm\: log\:} N)$. The scaled DVM algorithm is at least 97$\%$ faster than the brute-force scale DVM by a vector product. The signal flow graphs of the scaled DVM algorithm are shown to elaborate the simplicity of the proposed algorithm.

CIRO – CAMPANIA IMAGING INFRASTRUCTURE FOR RESEARCH IN ONCOLOGY
