Transport, diffusion and mean field games
We discuss the connection between mean-field game models and optimal transport problems with density dependent terms, penalizing congestion effects. The simplest example is the minimization of the kinetic energy + entropy along curves. Those terms enhance some form of dissipation compared to the classical Monge-Kantorovich transport. The underlying diffusion effect is to be observed through the optimality system coupling Hamilton-Jacobi and continuity equations, using different tools which lie at the crossroad between transport and diffusion methods.
